Favorite Chinese spot in Sydney even before the last time I went here..
It's cheap, it's delicious, it's gritty atmosphere (basically not super elegant) is my kind of place.
The Ma-Po tofu here was the best out of all of Sydney, but still NOT SPICY, spicier than all of the places I tried in Sydney.. But, it's like not a thing in Sydney to have it spicy (my biggest disappointment).
The congee here is great, noodles are great, battered eggy dishes are great.. Pretty much everything here is good.. People kept ordering tons and forcing to me to eat everything.. so I've gained most of my weight at this restaurant if anywhere perhaps while overseas. -

Good Cantonese restaurant in the heart of China Town, Sydney. Yeah...the service is crappy, the employees don't speak too much English but the food is good.
Super Bowl Chinese restaurant is one of many Chinese restaurants on restaurant row. Plenty of seating as they have two sides of the restaurant. Good noodles, rice, rice porridge (jok) and appetizers. For Sydney standards, the Chinese food is good. You can't compare it to Los Angeles, Bangkok or Hong Kong Chinese restaurants though. -

Sometimes you just get a craving for something and it lingers on the mind until you get what you want. For this reason I had to visit the heart of China town and get me a Superbowl of Congee.
The venue itself is pretty low key in appearance. Its got basic seating and bland coloured walls, so don't come here for the aesthetics basically.
Its Cantonese food and the menu has got lots of options that will no doubt cover all your eating needs. They also do some dessert style drinks for those with a sweet tooth.
I came here for one thing and one thing alone, that being the Congee. The Congee menu is pretty good with lots of different fish, chicken or vegtable options. I felt like seafood so opted for that. It contained Prawns, Scallops. The bowl wasn't long coming out and hit the spot. The Congee is served very fresh and was hot. I left with a satisfied belly. Another day another craving met. -

An institution of Chinatown - I remember going here with my parents as a child and they have always done Cantonese staples quite well particularly congee. The other dishes have deteriorated over the years in my eyes but the congee remains top notch. My favourite thing about their congee is the fact that is has been cooked for a long time and its a smooth soup without solid grains of rice.
Back in the day we used to have pippies and fried noodles but I avoid these now and just stick to congee and soup or braised noodles.
One thing that has improved a little bit is the decor and the general hygiene. It was certainly dubious in the 90's to my teenage eyes but has improved and the bathrooms are a little cleaner now.
As with all the other Chinatown joints, they do outdoor seating as al fresco dining has certainly picked up in the last 10 odd years.
They also do value for money breakfast sets which is normally some rice rolls + congee and a dough stick, -

AVOID THIS RESTAURANT! And if you decide to go eat at this restaurant anyway, DON'T order the Peking duck! We were sooooo upset because we ordered the Peking duck (among other dishes) and when we got the plate thought we only got maybe a fourth of the duck and we looked closely and underneath Ate just a whole bunch of those rice crisps!!!!! I called the server and asked for the rest of the duck and he said something that is not comprehensible. Then the rest of the food came and a few minutes later there was a fight going on between our lying waiter and another customer. Maybe they got half of the duck we ordered and they ordered a whole duck too.
